"If it's possible to imbue my work into a thought, it is to think of the camera as a manipulative device, and to be unapologetic as an artist."
Malerie Marder is a photographer and filmmaker living in Los Angeles, CA. She received her MFA from Yale University where she was awarded the Schickle- Collingwood Prize and The John Ferguson Weir Award. Her monographs include "Anatomy" (Twin Palms Publisher, 2013) and "Carnal Knowledge" (Violette Editions 2011). Her short film "Romeo" debuted at the 5 Firenze FilmCorti Festival at the Museum Le Murate PAC in Florence, Italy June 2018. Her work is in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the National Gallery of Art and the Phillips Gallery of Art, amongst others. In 2019 she was awarded a grant by the Peter S. Reed Foundation. Her work is currently in the exhibition “Nude” at the Museum Fotografisca in Stockholm.
