Attafuah’s work, in its Rococo flair, stands out for its tantalising dialogue with art history and their eye for elegantly conceived compositions. In her work, techno-surrealistic landscapes are populated with characters drawn equally from science fiction as they are from worlds of 18th century painters Fragonard and Watteau. She equally stands as an highly important and visible artist opening up discussions and giving presence to empowering images of afro-futurist identity in the NFT space. These futurist conceptions all too often are figured as a dominantly white visual reality and Attafuah’s work stands as a rebuke to this dominant narrative.
