Glitched Faes Flexing in the Metaverse
Edition 3 of 3 Glitched Fae is derived from my #GlitchGoddess series of digital art, animation, NFT and #arthack projects. Her first appearance was in my Art Basel Miami 2019 #arthack on Instagram titled the “Dinosaurs of Art”, set to a Greta Van Thunberg voiceover speech. Glitched Fae represents the Maiden state of the Triple Goddess, exemplifying youthful idealism, adventurism, innocence and a passion for innovation and progress. So much of what has happened in the last year has been about a greater migration to the virtual and the metaverse alongside the Defi revolution because of the pandemic. This has indeed been an era of flexing for a brave new world rife with possibilities for the 21st century and its associative anxieties. I staged the Faes in an idealized, low poly/game style world set to an Instagram color palette, in direct contrast to the physical world. This last year I lived, worked, socialized, and monetized in both this metaverse and Defi revolution against a backdrop of the pandemic. I was filled with genuine exhilaration about the possibilities, while simultaneously aware of its potential dangers. This is our moment right now, full of the flexing of the new against an unknown virtual terrain with its own steep climb up to its summit view. Yet, I find great beauty, hope, and idealism in this premise, as we continue to struggle globally, through this era. The buyer of this NFT will also receive an Artist Proof print edition.
