Miss Bugs is an artist partnership based in London. Their work incorporates hundreds of small component objects, laser-cut planes of wood and poured resin, resulting in large-scale pieces with a sculptural quality. They have always taken a broad and varied approach to creating work by combining materials and objects, alongside contemporary imagery. Collaged together, either by hand, through photography, or using a digital process, is important.
The focus of the work has always been the human form, as Miss Bugs’ interest lies in developing ‘characters’ to tell a story. Within their stark modern portraits and figurative pieces, the resin holds and preserves complex networks of everyday objects, creating kaleidoscopic chambers of interconnected patterns. Order is created to reflect the cultural and social networks we exist in.
In addition to their figurative work, Miss Bugs have expanded their practice, creating high-editioned, small sculptural pieces such as their hand-cast resin lollies, oversized medical pills and emoji syringes. These go on to make vast and immersive installations with thousands of single pieces. This on-going project, by the name ‘Do No Harm,’ sets out to analyse society’s addictions and obsessions such as our consumption of social media.
Miss Bugs have exhibited in New York, LA, San Francisco, Paris and London.
